Joseph Augustus Schlatter
1915 - 2005

Schlatter, Joseph Augustus was born August 1, 1915 in Shaw, MS; he died November 29, 2005, Knoxville, TN.

He served three years in the Army Air Corps during WW II. Mr. Schlatter was a graduate of Delta State University in Cleveland, MS and received a Masters in Education from George Peabody College in Nashville. He was a teacher and coach in Centreville, MS; an insurance adjuster with General Adjustment Bureau; an elder and Bible teacher with Fairmont Presbyterian Church; and a longtime volunteer at Children’s Hospital. He delivered Mobile Meals and tutored Vietnamese students at Fulton High School.

Preceded in death by parents, Emma W. and John Adolph Schlatter, immigrants from St. Gallen, Switzerland.

Survivors: wife of 62 years, Annie R. (Babe) Schlatter; sons, Joseph A. Schlatter Jr. and wife Rose, John F. Schlatter and wife Becky; grandchildren, Stephanie, Joseph III, Valerie, and John M.; great-grandchildren, Jack, Phil and Jay; brother, Fred R. Schlatter.

Memorials may be made to Yoke Youth Ministries, P.O. Box 3492, Knoxville 37917.

A memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2005 at Fairmont Presbyterian Church with Rev. Michael Mills officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall of Fairmont Presbyterian Church. Serving the family: Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at N. Broadway.
